My Visit To Shea Stadium For a New York Mets Game
The NY Mets have been having one of the best seasons in their history and I was lucky enough to go to a game with my brother and nephew. Although the Mets played one of the flattest games I have ever attended it was still a good day. The seats that we had were right behind home plate behind the netting and that is a good thing as David Wright fouled off a ball that would have been in my face so fast I wouldn't of had time to react to it. Actually a lady got hit in the face with a ball down the right field line that delayed the game a bit. The first base umpire was smart enough to stop the game so that the emergency crew could come to her aid using the field so they could get there without going through a crowd. The game started on a good note as Carlos Delgado hit a three run homer in the bottom of the first inning to give Mike Pelfrey some breathing room but that didn't last long. Pelfrey pitched lights out for a few innings and it is clear to me that he is going to be a star in this league someday. Then he seemed to have lost his control and walked a few batters before the flood gates opened and the Houston Astros scored a few runs. I didn't think they were going to stop scoring as they were hitting the ball rather well. These would be some great pictures of the Houston Astros starter Roy Oswalt but the black netting really ruins the pictures. Being that this is the first time I have been to Shea Stadium in a few years I was impressed with the service they have in these lower box seats. They have a menu that allows you to order from your seats so you don't miss any of the game. The prices are not that bad either. I had a hot dog and a bud light and it was there in no time flat. The New York Mets lost the game but I picked up about 20 New York Met Yearbooks that I am sure will be a big seller on EBay when the Mets win the World Series this year. As I am writing this the Mets have an 11 game lead in the National League East and it doesn't look like any other team is stepping up to the plate as the rest of the division is playing sub 500 ball. You can see more pictures on my New York Mets picture page. |
