Why Do We Love Sports The Way We Do Because We are Sports Fans

The crazy thing about sports fans is the passion that they show for their favorite teams. Think about it sometimes they will drive for hours just to watch a preseason football game. These people are more dedicated to their favorite team than they are to their marriage or maybe even their kids.

We know that sounds crazy but in some sad cases that is the cold hard truth. I have seen fans that have rooms just for their sports memorabilia. They have the spare bedroom all decked out in New York Yankee colors or maybe they turned the garage into a Green Bay Packers locker room.

So what motivates people to become such obsessive fans I haven't a clue. Just because I own 100 Atlanta Falcons hats myself does that make me borderline crazy. In a way I would guess you would say yes as that money could be spent on better things like paying off a credit card or paying down a mortgage or better yet buying a new Michael Vick jersey. What I would really want is a throwback Steve Bartowski jersey that would be cool.

One of my main problems is picking out which jersey to wear when I go watch the Falcons play down in the Georgia Dome. Do I wear my Mike Vick home jersey even though I like the away one better? Usually I end up wearing my Keith Brooking away jersey but I like to switch it up from time to time. 

But seriously why are we fans of these teams and why will we spend our hard earned money on sports apparel it's because we are trained from a young age by our parents who were fans.

So if you are in therapy and want to blame your parents for something feel free its the excuse that I use.
